The Cottage.

Two bedrooms, one bath, both queens. Wood-burning fireplace, full kitchen, private deck. The cottage sits at the quiet end of the property, sixty feet from the dock — close enough to swim before coffee, far enough to feel like the only ones here. We wrote the second half of a book in the cottage one February. The fireplace did most of the convincing. Sleeps four. Available on its own, or as the cottage half of the whole-property booking. Two-night minimum.

Two bedrooms, two queens, one bath, four people. The simplest version of the property — we kept it that way on purpose.

Sleeping arrangement.

Most couples take one room and use the other for the bag that exploded.

Inside.

  • Wood-burning fireplace. We leave a stack of split alder by the door — it lights faster than fir, and there's enough of it for three nights even if you keep one going from after dinner.
  • Full kitchen with induction range and Bosch dishwasher.
  • Nespresso.
  • Linen sheets in summer, flannel in winter. Lake towels in the basket by the back door — green ones are the dock towels, white ones stay inside.
  • Fibre Wi-Fi.
  • Heat pump for AC.
  • Covered deck, west-facing.
  • Blackout blinds in both bedrooms — June light starts at 4:45am here.
  • In November the rain on the cedar roof is the soundtrack. We don't apologize for it.

Shoulder season

mid-September – March

Two-night minimum. Cleaning fee $200. Fully refundable up to thirty days out — long enough to talk it over at home and not enough to feel like you're locked in.

Not for you if.

  • You want a hotel experience with daily housekeeping.
  • You're bringing a dog. Ours stay at our place down the road and one of them is jealous; the cottage is too small to share with one and the lake is unfenced.
  • You need step-free access. The cottage has a small step at the entry and the doorway between bedrooms is narrow.
